German parliament condemns Gaza blockade and demands its lifting

German parliament condemns Gaza blockade and demands its liftingGerman Parliamentarians from across the political spectrum have condemned Israel's blockade of 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and demanded its lifting.

The parliament has also announced an initiative to immediately lift the siege. The Christian Alliance of Chancellor, Angela Merkel, the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party, all signed a statement declaring the siege futile and contrary to Israel's interest.

They affirmed that the siege has failed to weaken Hamas and has instead strengthened it politically.
