Andrew Gilligan facing defamation claim in High Court

Andrew Gilligan facing defamation claim in High CourtFarooq Bajwa & Co, solicitors acting on behalf of Shaykh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic movement, have confirmed that a formal letter has been sent to the Daily Telegraph journalist Andrew Gilligan regarding false and defamatory statements he published about their client. The letter stated that Gilligan made no attempt to contact their client before publishing the article which 'demonstrates a recklessness and lack of concern to our client's reputation.' Failure to apologise and retract the article concerned would result in legal proceedings in the High Court. Gilligan has 14 days to reply to Salah's solicitor.

A similar letter has also been sent to Ms Robyn Rosen of The Jewish Chronicle.
