Gul hints at possibility of opening Hamas office in TurkeyMedia reports have claimed that consultations are underway between the Turkish government and the Hamas Movement over the possibility of opening offices for the Islamic Resistance Movement on Turkish territory.

In a statement made to the press on Sunday [19.01], the President of the Turkish Republic, Abdullah Gul, hinted at Turkish government intentions of opening offices for the Movement stating, "Hamas is an important political formation in Palestine. It is well known that Turkey has had continuous dialogue and contact with it for a long time and numerous visits have been concluded within this context."

Gul confirmed that Turkey was one of the strongest supporters of the Palestinian cause and accordingly, would be articulating the dimensions of cooperation between itself and the movement.
