The Palestinian Forum in Britain condemned, on Wednesday, December 9, the Israeli authorities' decision to deny European Parliament Members access to Gaza, and considered this decision to be a response to the EU foreign ministers' recent call for Jerusalem to become the capital of both Israel and a future Palestinian state. The EU supports the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders and demands the end of settlements in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.

In a statement, a copy of which had been sent to Quds Press, the Palestinian Forum in Britain pointed out that the Israeli decision shows the confusion of the state of Israel and the fear of widespread support for the Palestinian Cause among Europeans. It also reflects the Israeli reaction to the European voices that are increasingly insisting to deal with the Palestinian parties, including the Hamas movement, which won he recent parliamentary elections.

The statement added that the purpose of the delegation's visit was to see the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, and meet with UNRWA operations director John Ging, and a number of members of the Palestinian Legislative Council from the Gaza Strip.
