According to Israeli data, the volume of trade exchange between Turkey and the Jewish state has severely declined since the beginning of the year 2009.

"A decline of 40 per cent occurred during the first nine months of 2009 in the volume of trade exchange between Israel and Turkey, compared to the same period of the last year (2008)," announced the Hebrew Radio.

The same data reported that there has been a sharp rise in the size of debt owed by the Turk merchants to Israeli exporters. Although there has been a decline in exports of minerals, chemical products, and plastics particularly to Turkey, the trade exchange between the two sides during this period represented an amount of some $800 million.
