Suez Canal Authority denies refusing passage to Iranian warships

Suez Canal Authority denies refusing passage to Iranian warshipsThe Suez Canal Authority has denied reports that it refused to grant permission for two Iranian warships to use the canal to get from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean after Israel protested that it would be a "provocation".

In a statement to the Middle East News Agency, the director of operations for the Authority said, "No Iranian warship has used the Suez Canal today or yesterday". Ahmed al-Manakhili clarified that "no requests" for such a passage had been received by the SCA.

In doing so, Mr. Al-Manakhili pointed out that the laws governing use of the Suez Canal required any warship, regardless of its nationality, to obtain formal approval from the Egyptian Ministry of Defence before it could pass through the waterway. Such approval has not been given, he added. "It is not possible for any warship to pass through the Canal without obtaining such approval in advance".

Israel's far-right Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, had claimed earlier that two Iranian warships on their way to Syria intended to sail through the Suez Canal during the night. He described such a move as one of a number of "recurring Iranian provocations" and said that "the international community must understand that Israel cannot ignore them forever".

+1 #1 Israel: Suez Canal is out of limit for IranRehmat 2011-02-18 04:57
The racist Jew, Avigdor Lieberman, Israeli foreign minister is furious that Israel's friendly military junta and the world community is alloweding two Iranian Navy ships to pass through Suez Canal which Hosni Mubarak would have never allowed to happen.

“Tonight, two Iranian warships are meant to pass through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea and reach Syria, something that has not happened in many years. To my regret, the international community is not showing readiness to deal with the recurring Iranian provocations. The international community must understand that Israel cannot forever ignore these provocations”.

It seems the Zionist ‘paper-tiger’ did not learn a lesson from 30,000-strong Jewish army’s great humiliation in 2006 at the hands of less than 2,000 Hizbullah fighters.

On Wednesday, calling for new Iran sanctions, ‘Israel-First’ Senator Commander (R) Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said Iran’s move was legal but “very provocative”.

In Washington, the subverted State Department spokesman Philip Crowley added his rant in support to the paranoid Lieberman: “What their intention is, what their destination is, I can’t say. We’ll be watching to see what they do. We always watch what Iran is doing”.

According to Commander James Kraska, professor of international law at the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island: “There is no legal barrier in this situation to Iranian warships passing through the canal”. Even the 1979 Camp David Accord signed between Anwar Sadaat and the Zionist regime said that the Canal is open to all traffic. However, no Iranian ship has passed through Suez Canal since 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The date passed, no Iranian ship passed through the Suez Canal. Why because it was another of Israel’s PR hoax story like the WIPE OUT ISRAEL OF MAP story in 2006. The Suez Canal Authority’s head of traffic, Ahmed El Manakhly, said on February 15 that he had no knowledge of any Iranian warships planning to pass through the waterway. Such move requires 48 hour prior permission from Egypt’s Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In February 2010 – two Israeli missile ships under tight Egyptian security passed through Suez Canal on its way to Persian Gulf on another Israeli ‘peaceful’ mission to Yemen and India.

The USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group transited the Suez Canal February 15, 2011 on a pre-planned mission to the Fifth Fleet area to help with operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to the US military source.

The zionist cabal is the real problem of the world today.
The pathetic "superpower" USA is nothing but a district of Israel. Its "Israle über alles" attitude will lead to world disaster.
.......
Iran has the right like any other state to use ship or pass through the Suez canal (like any state it informs the Egyptians and pays the necessary dues, declares cargo etc, period).
