Doctors of the Orthopaedic department at Kamal Adwan hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, headed by Dr. Akram Abu-Odeh and Dr. Arafa Al-Khatib, carried out one of the rare surgeries for Hamada Mohammed Mousa Ghaben, 19, who was suffering from severe infections in the radius bone of his right forearm since childhood.

Ghaben had formerly conducted several operations that led to the erosion of the radius bone and an expansion of the ulnar bone's length. Such operations resulted in an emergence of a severe deformity and weakness in the job of the right wrist.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza the operation was completed successfully by cutting the ulna bone and a fraction of the radius bone.  The two were then been linked and the remaining part of the radius bone was fixed with ulna bone in order to strengthen the wrist joint.

"After the operation the patient began to recover with a clear improvement in his arm as he is now not suffering from the previous problems," added the ministry.

Bassam Abu Warda, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, congratulated the doctors on the relevant success of the operation noting that this success will contribute greatly to the possibility of the total dispending of the abroad follow-up of similar operations which cost the health ministry a lot of expenses.
