Yesterday night, the Miles of Smiles Convoy 8 arrived in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Land Border Crossing with Egypt. The Convoy consisted of 48 solidarity activists from Britain, France, Lebanon, and Algeria.

The Convoy brought with it a range of medical provisions including a month's supply of dialysis medication, 120 electric wheelchairs and a number of cars to provide general services to the people of Gaza.

The Miles of Smiles Convoys forms part of the international and Arab solidarity campaign which aims to break the siege of Gaza. During the visit, members of the Convoy visited a range of health, governmental and public service facilities as well as the Palestinian parliament.

During a meeting with a convoy delegation at the headquarters of the Council in Gaza, the first deputy minister, Ahmed Bahr, asserted that solidarity convoys visiting the Gaza Strip were a clear indication that the Palestinian Cause was not limited to Palestinians alone, but rather extends to the whole Arab and Islamic nation.
