Israel's Supreme Court has decided to hear an urgent appeal for the release of Khader Adnan, a Palestinian detained without charge, who has been on hunger strike for 66 days.

The hearing which was due to take place on 23 February has now been brought forward by two days.

Meanwhile, a growing number of Palestinian detainees have also begun a hunger strike in solidarity with Khader Adnan. Daily marches and demonstrations are held across the occupied Palestinian territories in support of Adnan and others held in administrative detention.

Israel currently holds more than 300 Palestinians in administrative detention, without charge or trial, for renewable periods of six months, without any way of defending themselves.
