Israel transfers Palestinian prisoners to an unknown location

The Israeli occupation authorities have transferred 120 Palestinian prisoners from a prison in the Negev desert to an unknown location. The prisoners were not allowed to take any luggage or belongings with them.

In a statement released to the media, detainees said that prison officers entered cells with guns and dogs. It was, they claimed, "designed to humiliate, provoke and oppress the prisoners even more than usual".

The prison administration informed the prisoners that it was "cancelling all understandings" with detainees. In response, the detainees' statement drew attention to their fear that the administration is "targeting the Negev prisoners"; prison officers there, it is claimed, "have a reputation for repression and violation of prisoners' rights".

The president of the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Qaddura Fares, called for the prosecution of "the officers responsible for such violations" and for their names to be circulated so that they can be prevented from travelling worldwide because of their oppression of Palestinian prisoners.
