Woman dies, others injured by faulty electrical equipment

Woman dies, others injured by faulty electrical equipmentA disabled woman has died and a young man and a girl have been injured in a fire in Northern Gaza. The fire started when an electrical generator exploded as it was put into use during a recent general power cut.

According to the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, "The accident happened in a house occupied by the Abu Warda family in Jabaliya on Wednesday night." The Authority called upon all citizens to take extra care when using such generators and flammable materials, warning them to keep such equipment outside the house to minimise risks.

Gaza faces an electricity crisis for long hours during the winter because of the only power station's reduced capacity, especially since the European Union halted payments to buy fuel.
