The Middle East Monitor has spoken to the Palestinian Diplomatic Mission in London who has confirmed that Salam Fayyad met with Alastair Burt - UK Middle East Minister - this morning and that Fayyad has spoken to the British Consulate in Jerusalem. Fayyad told them that Sheikh Raed is a respectful man among Palestinians here and in the diaspora and his arrest will harm the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian People.
 
The arrest of Sheikh Raed clearly has extremely wide implications and goes beyond the issues of just one individual.
